“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it on being someone else.” Steve Jobs
Okay, so I’m not a Steve Jobs or a Whitney Houston. I’m not Ariana Grande or a Michael Trevino <3.
I’m not anyone but myself.
You’re not anyone but yourself.
It’s pure logic.
Then why do we act like we want to be someone else.
The quote above is the truest quote you can get. Obviously, time is running out. We will all be gone someday and humanity will cease to exist. So don’t you want your imprint to stay on Earth forever. Don’t you want your opinion, your impact to be for an eternity? Don’t you want to change someone’s mind, protect and serve, or help change someone’s life?
Why then, are our mindsets set to always be better than someone else? For every 100, we strive for a 101. For every good, we want perfect. For every red, we want to see green.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying to stop trying completely. Always try your best in whatever you do. Just don’t try as hard to be a perfectionist. Nothing is perfect.
So how to be yourself? There is no guide.
Focus on your passions. Whether it be an exciting jump into space or the thrill you get from knowing that you have impacted someone’s life in a positive way. Whether it pay 2 dollars a year or 200,000 dollars a year, you will be happy. Because you are doing what you love.
Because you will be yourself.
And when the end finally comes, you can sleep knowing that you have become someone who will be remembered for an eternity.
